4. Plan for Water-Efficient Landscaping

Utah's dry climate makes water-wise landscaping a smart long-term investment.

This spring, consider incorporating drought-resistant plants like sage, yarrow, and ornamental grasses.

Karl Foerster Feather Reed Grass is one of our personal favorites. Replacing park strips or underused lawn areas with decorative rock, mulch, and low-water ground covers such as sedum varieties, Creeping Jenny, or Ice Plant can dramatically reduce water usage.

5. Assess and Refresh Your Hardscape

Spring is the perfect time to inspect your outdoor hard surfaces before the busy season begins. Walk your property and check pavers, decks, and retaining walls for any shifting, cracking, or winter damage and make note of what needs repair. Pressure wash driveways, porches, patios, and stone pathways to refresh their appearance and clear away any debris.

Use a Paver Sealer for patios and walkways to protect against wear, stains, and weather. Paver sealer helps extend their lifespan and keeps your landscape looking sharp.

Spring is also a great time to refresh polymeric sand and apply hardener or sealer to flagstone joints, brick, and paver areas, and to assess any curbing or concrete that may need attention. Cracked or crumbling concrete can often be repaired with a resurfacing material and bonding agent.

6. Time to Enjoy Your Outdoor Space

Once the work is done, it's time to enjoy it. Clean and set up your patio furniture, refresh fire pits and outdoor lighting, get your potted plants ready, and maybe even add a hanging flower arrangement for a welcoming pop of color.
